5th & 6th Grade, Mrs. Mulcahy

Welcome to Mrs.Mulcahy's  Page

Hi, my name is Jennifer Mulcahy.  My husband, Fred and I have four children ranging in age from 7 to 20 years old. We live outside Spokane and love the outdoors and wildlife. My relationship with the Lord and my family are most important to me. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, stamping, and being crafty.

I graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1993 with a BA in Education. I majored in reading with a minor in math. I have been with CCA since it began in 2000. It has been fun to watch it grow over the years. At CCA I have taught at different levels ranging from 3rd grade to 6th grade. I love the students here and have watched many of them grow into amazing adults. It is so exciting to look forward to what God has in store for CCA and these students.

Cornerstone has a special place in my heart. God has blessed me and my family by allowing me and my children to be a part of such a special school.

Announcements:

Thank you parents for your support with our bake sale.  We have not done a final count on our profits but it looks like we did very well.

Winter: With the arrival of snow it is important that students are dressed appropriately for recess.  In order to play on the snow mounds students must have snow pants, gloves, and boots.

CCA Auction:  The auction is March 3rd  !!    Please remember to be looking for items to procure for the auction.  We will also be collecting items for our class basket titled “family fun.”  It is so important for our school that every family gets involved in this fundraising event.  Even if you are unable to attend the auction we appreciate your support by providing an item or more to be auctioned.  Going into local stores in your community and asking for donations is an easy and great way to get auction items.  We have received 3 items for our class basketJ, 4 Regal Cinema tickets, 4 popcorn containers and a box of microwave popcorn.   I will be rewarding students with classroom rewards when they bring in items.  Please see the back of the newsletter for a list of ideas we brainstormed for our basket, other items welcome as well.

African American Month:  February is Famous African American month.  In honor of that we will be learning about writing expository reports in which we will pick a famous African American to research.  Students told me this week who they are reporting on.  All resources are due by Monday January 30th.   Parents will need to get students to the library for resources.

Subjects:

Book Reports:  Reports are due February 7th, do not wait until the last minute.

Writing:  We have been practicing expository writing.  On Monday we will discuss note taking.  I need parent help printing internet sources and taking your child to the library.  We will do the report work in the classroom if the students bring in all of the materials they need for researching their person.  If they do not have their sources here during writing they will be expected to do the research at home and will be given other writing work to complete.  Not a good idea or use of their time.
